Rotary celebrates World Earth Day with Square Hill EarlyAct

Rotary Wynberg on Saturday 17 April 2021 planted 11 trees and a water wise garden at Square Hill Primary School to celebrate World Earth Day.

Square Hill Primary School in Retreat recently had several old trees cut down due to their age and danger it posed to the buildings, thus Ms Connor the school’s EarlyAct teacher reached out to the Rotary Club of Wynberg asking us to do a Tree Planting day with her learners.

Rotary Wynberg members collected compost, plants and purchased several trees to plant with the learners who each got to plant their own tree. Each learner received a World Earth Day certificate recognizing their contribution to the environment.

Rotary Wynberg looks forward to seeing these trees bring shade from the sun in future years.

Thank you to Super Plants Tokai and Berry Lady Wynberg for their generous donations.
