PRESIDENT’S MESSAGEThe Pres

Dear Promenaders

This will be the 29th year that Wynberg Rotary Club has brought you the “Last night of the Proms”, a musical highlight on the Cape Town calendar.  ‘Proms’ again promises an evening of musical entertainment that all can enjoy.

Not only does your ticket give you the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful evening listening to music, but it also brings a real benefit to those less fortunate than yourself.  This year your contribution will go to our co-beneficiaries, St Luke’s Hospice and Victoria Hospital, to support the excellent work they do in our community.

Conductor Richard Cock has put together a great musical selection of “Movie Blockbusters”.  Richard encourages audience participation and will share with us some background to the music. This will contribute to an evening of great fun.

Our thanks go to the City of Cape Town, Richard Cock, the soloists, our wonderful “Proms” orchestra, Symphony Choir of Cape Town, Cape Town Male Voice Choir, Cape Welsh Choir and UCT Choir. Also thanks to The Cape Town Highlanders for piping the audience back into the hall after the interval/

A very big thank you has to go to the Proms committee, Graham Todd, Barry Cleveland, Gordon Knight, Pam Munday, Mike Schreiber, Rob Murphy and Francois van Eeden. Also to the rest of the Wynberg Rotary Club and their partners who each year help to make your evening of music an enjoyable one

If you would like to find out more about Wynberg Rotary, where we meet and the work we do (and the fun we have while doing it), please go to www.wynbergrotary.org.za.

Lastly thank YOU for your valued support. Without you this would not have been possible. So I hope you have purchased all your balloons, streamers and hats to make this an evening to remember.

Please sit back, relax and let the music take you back to all those wonderful movies of years gone by.

Karen Overbosch

President, Rotary Club of Wynberg

MESSAGE FROM THE MAYORThe mayor

The City of Cape Town is committed to building an Inclusive City that celebrates our rich cultural diversity and heritage.

To make this a living reality, the City commemorates various exciting, historic and cultural events that bring together residents from diverse backgrounds throughout the City to enjoy what Cape Town offers.

We are also determined to leverage existing facilities across the City such as City Hall and the

Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) to position Cape Town as the events capital of the continent.

I am delighted that the Proms Concert has become a permanent feature of the City’s annual calendar of entertainment events.

The Proms Concerts are more than just another music show.  They also speak directly to what we aim to achieve by building a more Caring City through the funds they raise for charitable causes throughout the metro.

There are thousands of vulnerable residents who need our assistance to pursue their dreams.  The proceeds of this concert will go a long way to making a positive impact on their lives.

The line-up for this year’s concert promises yet another thrilling night of music performances.  I hope that you will enjoy the performances and help grow the stature of this concert.

Patricia de Lille, Executive Mayor of Cape Town

The Rotary Club of Wynberg gratefully acknowledges the Mayor’s generous sponsorship of the cocktail party for all Bay Holders
