The annual Uncle Paul’s Christmas Parties began in 1956, and are organised by the Wynberg Rotaract Club. About 7000 people from over 2500 families join in the celebrations of Christmas each year; set in front of a magical castle, children enjoy an evening of tractor rides, hay fights, visits from Noddy and friends, singing Christmas carols, eating fairy sweets and of course, the most important of all, getting their very own gift from Father Christmas. Each family pays a small fee to attend the event and this money goes towards funding the many community projects that the members of Wynberg Rotaract organise
The parties are held at Groot Constantia, and run in the evening, from 30th November to 21st December (except 3rd, 10th and 18th). They are normally fully booked months in advance, but should you wish to get onto the invitation list for next year, click here.
Apart from key roles like Uncle Paul and Father Christmas, we also assist with parking, booking and even general cleaning and maintenance. For the last few years we have hosted a group of about 40 children from one of the schools which we support, for their own special evening. It is truly humbling to see they way some of the children react when getting their present from Father Christmas, knowing that it may be the only gift that they will be getting for Christmas.
