Dear Promenaders
If you are reading this message, then I would like to thank you, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Wynberg, for supporting our 28th year of Proms. Your hard-earned money will certainly help to swell the coffers of our two beneficiaries this year, St Luke’s Hospice and Victoria Hospital, thereby supporting the excellent work they do in our community.
If you have received your tickets as a gift, please appreciate that you are held in very high regard by the giver. Proms tickets are like gold dust in the weeks before the event and cannot generally be obtained for love or money!
In the highly unlikely event that you have just parked your spaceship outside City Hall or have recently relocated to the Mother City from Pofadder, I am assuming the majority of you need no introduction to this grand event. For those first timers however, I would offer a very warm welcome and we trust that you too will become part of our “Proms Family” in the years to come.
As we Rotarians are known to be quite modest, let me simply say that Proms is an iconic, not-to-be-missed (ever), highly entertaining, FUN, musical extravaganza! The only things in fact that prevent us from exporting our proudly Capetonian version to the Royal Albert Hall in London are the unfavourable exchange rate and the UK weather.
Thanks go to the City of Cape Town, Richard Cock (affectionately known to us as “Mr. Proms”), all our outstanding performers, Graham Todd and his hard-working Proms Committee, Wynberg Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors and their families and friends, for making Proms the special event that it is. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
If you would like to find out more about Wynberg Rotary, where we meet and the work we do (and the fun we have while doing it), please go to www.wynbergrotary.org.za.
Lastly, thank YOU for your valued support. I am assuming of course that you are already surrounded by lots of balloons, hats and packets of streamers to make your Proms experience a most memorable one. If that is not the case, there are still a few minutes left to make the necessary purchases! ENJOY THE SHOW
