Rotary Family Health Day 2016

This year Wynberg Rotary Club and Constantia Rotary Club and Kromboom Rotary Club elected to host their RFHD this year during the week before the official dates to coincide with school holidays.  The community of Capricorn Park were very glad to see us again and supported us well.  Once again the eye testing and free readers and dental health were a great hit.   We handed out on average 110 pairs of readers a day which shows the tremendous need.  There were a number of other services that were also well supported and needed by the community as well as some exhausted staff who manned these services.

Some of the services and advice that we offered were:  Blood Pressure, BMI, Pulse Screening, Diabetes, Breast screening, Cervical Pap smears, Teenage pregnancy, Condom handouts, Family planning, Female condom demonstration, TB counselling – clinical testing, HCT (HIV Counselling and Testing), Male circumcision, diarrhoea, squeezy bottles, Environmental Health, Drug advice, Hand washing, Nutrition, dental, Eye Testing and readers, Toothpaste/Toothbrush, Multivitamins and Vitamin A for children.

Our thanks go to Living Hope for once again hosting us and serving the community so wonderfully.  Our thanks also to the City of Cape Town and Provincial Health Department who assisted by providing NGOs to provide these services.

Unfortunately we had to move our site location from Lavender Hill to Capricorn and apologise to all residents of Lavender Hill. However we will be back to try again to offer the services to your community.
