Rotary Birthday with special guests
23rd February 2017 was the 112th anniversary of Rotary International and the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation.
The Club was proud to host teachers and students from Oddemarka College, as well as principals and representatives of many of the NLC schools helped so generously by donations from Oddemarka and Haugaland Colleges. We also shared the evening with other guests: Honorary Rotarian John and Mary Vivian, Barbara Smith, Wenche Hovstad, Phil Peckett, Stewart Dix-Peek (Clubfoot doctor), Adrian Africa and his wife.
Visit to Isiphiwo Primary School
On Wed 6 December we visited Isiphiwo Primary School with the donors Steve and Geraldine from France. Using the funds that Steve has donated, stationery packs were handed to all Grade 7s leaving the school to go to High School. Steve gave them a talk about succeeding in future and that anything is possible if they put their head down and work. He gave real examples of people he is currently working with. School Bursary Evening October 2016
The Bursary Evening is one of the most important events of the year for the Norwegian Liaison Committee (NLC) of the Rotary Club of Wynberg. Even more so, it is the highlight of the school year for 7 schools on the Cape Flats. On that evening, learners from 5 primary schools and 2 secondary schools are given bursaries to assist them to cover for expenses through their school year.
