On Wednesday 3 December 2014 the Rotary Club of Wynberg took 40 children from Miracle Kids and SOS Children’s Village to Wynberg Rotaract Uncle Paul Xmas Party.
A fantastic evening was had by all, as testified by an exhausted Uncle Paul.
The Wynberg Rotaract Club have been incredibly busy as always.
During November and December 2012, the highly successful and sought-after, Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party was once again held on the farm at Groot Constantia. One of the resulting spin-offs from this is that the Wynberg Rotaractors get to spend some time doing community service projects at the Constantia Primary School which is where the children of the Groot Constantia staff go to school. The first of these projects for 2013 was to deliver packed back-packs to the school children on the first day of the new school term. Other projects will follow during the course of the year. The following article came out of the Peoples Post community newspaper on Tuesday 29 January 2013.
More good news from this busy club is that UCT have approved the chartering of a Rotaract club at UCT. Well done Justin and the rest of the club on your hard work. Watch the press for any more new Rotaract Clubs to be chartered this year.
Kiddies Camp was held from 18-20 Jan with 34 kids from Vissershoek near Durbanville being hosted by Wynberg Rotaract Club and Bellville Rotaract Club. Once again this was a huge success with various activities and outings for the children all weekend.
District Toiletries Project: Wynberg Rotaract handed out over 100 packs of toiletries to children at Groote Schuur Hospital.
The annual Interact Camp will take place from 15-17 March at Camp Faraway, Noordhoek.
Anyone between the ages of 18-30 wishing to join a service organisation please contact wynbergrotaract@gmail.com.
A workteam met at Uncle Paul’s castle on 21st October to spruce the place up:- at least until some invaders came to chase them away!
The invaders watching us watching them,
So the end result was a team looking on:-
and the castle is not quite finished:
As far as we got painting today. Also no ladders to do the top bits and ran out of paint. Far left is where we need to do some work.
Having been chased away from the castle we could only stand and watch the antics of up to 8 baboons who obviously think the castle is a great jungle gym. Wish they would choose another day of the week. Even with the farm workers and their paint guns all around us we had no peace. The Rotaractors are thinking of buying their own devices.
Painting Playgrounds at Isiphiwo Pre-School: 29 September.
Rotaract brought paint and all had a funfilled day helping brighten up the playgrounds:
it included hop scotch and the snake
The team + two Grade R teachers + Mr Tabata (Principal) + caretaker.
Rotaract PotjieKos competition: Saturday 6 October
The 3 judges with the winning Rotaract Club – Bellville
(see no bias remembering the 4 way test!!!)

UNCLE PAUL’S – THE FIRST CLEAN UP ON Sun 7 Oct
<:–The road was so bad that most folk elected to walk up.
Interesting bringing some stuff down!!! –>
The farm have started eradicating alien trees. This has left Rotary Walk and the left of the castle (as you look at it from the arena) a “little” exposed. The chain saw came out and we did a lot of cleaning up. A long way to go still. Took 2 tractor loads away and then it just became to muddy for the tractor to move. New walls/screens have to be built to hide Rotary Walk now. Going to be lots more work parties before the start of Uncle Paul’s.
